As a multi-award winning community leader, Jimmie has always had a passion for youth development. Early in his career, Jimmie discovered the importance of grace, integrity, love, & excellence. Jimmie was taught that excellence is dreaming more than others think is practical and expecting more than others think is possible. From a young age, Jimmie always believed in what other’s thought was impossible; and by having a support system that empowered him to believe, he was able to achieve.

​Jimmie took these foundational principles with him to Western Michigan University. Where Jimmie decided to dedicate himself to advocating for youth and community development, by founding Empower The Youth. A Registered Student Organization at Western Michigan University, aimed at inspiring, educating, and empowering young individuals to effect positive change. There is where Jimmie’s commitment to integrity, love-driven leadership, and service became central to his philosophy. During his time at Western Michigan University, Jimmie & Empower The Youth were honored with two awards at the 2024 Black Excellence Gala. One for Student Leader of the Year, & the other for Best New RSO.

Jimmie has continued his efforts of supporting youth on Western’s campus by participating in the yearly, ‘Black Male Summit’. This year, (2025) , Jimmie was a Facilitator for the, ‘Black Male Summit’. Alongside Kalamazoo Legend, Ezra Bell, & Public Figure, Nuri Muhammad. Jimmie is blessed to be back home serving his home town as the Programs Coordinator of Mosaic Youth Theatre of Detroit. He thanks all of his mentors, peers, and family for supporting him in his journey. Jimmie's dedication to empowering youth and fostering community development remains a driving force in his ongoing efforts to serve.​
