Jimmie Comer III, a Detroit-based director, whose work is defined by integrity, originality, and love. Jimmie’s directorial hope is to tell stories that allow the blind to see, the deaf to hear, & the faithless to be faithful. As a proud graduate of Western Michigan University with a BFA in Theatre, Jimmie’s artistic journey blends performance, leadership, and spiritual purpose. As both a director and educator, he is committed to amplifying voices and crafting stories that resonate with today's generation.

At Western Michigan University, Jimmie has directed several original and adapted works that center the experiences, dreams, and complexities of young people. His directing credits include Lockdown, Beautiful Boy, and Love & Basketball at the Zack L. York Theatre. These productions showcase his ability to fuse narrative clarity with emotional depth, often working in collaboration with youth ensembles to bring authenticity and fresh perspective to the stage.

Jimmie’s experience also extends to assistant directing, having worked alongside directors on productions such as Black Flag by Idris Goodman, Beyond the Lights by Gina Prince-Bythewood, and August: Orange County by Tracy Letts. Through these projects, he’s developed a deep understanding of story structure, character development, and the nuanced communication required between director, actor, and audience.

Jimmie Comer III leads every rehearsal room with a love inspired by 1 Corinthians 13:4-7—one that fosters trust, celebrates vulnerability, and centers collaboration. Through Jimmie’s directorial lens, he hopes to tell stories that lead to psychological, emotional, spiritual, & generational breakthroughs while creating spaces where partners, audience members, and artists can grow, reflect, and transform into whatever they hope to become.
